Technique Junkies Blog Post- Day by Day

Happy Thursday!
I hope you are well and finding some time to be crafty. Today I am sharing a card I made for the Technique Junkies Blog.

This stamp is called Fence Silhouette.  I heat embossed this stamp in black.  I used Black Versafine Ink and clear embossing powder. Once I set the embossing powder with my heat tool, I created the look of a sunset using chalks.  I love to use chalks and always seem to get great results with them.  They are very forgiving. I create most of my sky backgrounds using chalk.  I used some reds, oranges and even some pink and purple to get this look.
The sentiment is also from Technique Junkies.  Day by Day is the name of the stamp.  I wanted to keep it simple so I stamped it and did a simple matting behind the sentiment with coordinating paper.

I think this would be such a great card for someone who is going through a stressful time and it's super easy.  Not much to it and anyone can do it.  The beauty of this card is in the stamp.  I hope you give it a try.

Have a Fantastic Day

Your Heart and My Heart Are Very Old Friends

Hello!  I hope everyone is having a great week.  Well it's official, Summer break has begun.  The kids are out of school.  Since I babysit my grandchildren, this means my creative time has been DRASTICALLY reduced lol.  I do enjoy the ease of the summer break though. No crazy mornings with schedules, and lunches and homework.  I'm looking forward to the break to be honest.

Today I am sharing a card I created for Technique Junkies.
This is a lovely stamp from Technique Junkies called Tea Break.  I really wanted this to have a vintage feel so I colored it with my Copics and then went over the entire picture with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye. I used the Tim Holtz Applicator Tool to apply the ink but you could also use a makeup sponge to lightly rub the color onto the card. The tag was made using another Technique Junkies stamp from Holidays1-Fourish Sentiments (set-of-7).   I used the Distress Ink on the tag as well.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.

Technique Junkies Stained Embossing

Happy Thursday Junkies--
Whew! what a crazy month this has been already.  May seems to be one of the crazier months for sure.  Several birthdays, always a graduation or two, Mothers Day..... Oh and just a few more days of freedom for me before the grandbabies get out of school. Let the craziness begin!!

Today I am sharing a card I created for Technique Junkies using the Stained Embossing Technique.

Technique Junkies Dragonfly 1
I had a BUNCH of fun creating this card.

Technique Junkies Dragonfly 2

I took this picture at a different angle so you could see that the card is a Z fold.  The sentiment is on the back part of the "Z".  I left an open space on the back (left side) of the card for writing. When the card is laying flat, you can see both the front of the card and the sentiment, which peeks out on the right hand side.

How I made the card:

By using Distress stains (I used Tim Holtz)- with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, you can create a beautiful background which is pretty enough to use alone in my opinion, or along with a stamp.

Normally I would apply the stain to my embossing folder in a random pattern but for this design I was a little more specific in where I placed the color.  I wanted the flowers to be purple and tried to get more of the greens on the stems. I used water color paper for this process.  Complete directions on how to do Stain Embossing can be found on the Artistic Effects CD at Techniquejunkies.com.

Once my Stain Embossed piece was dry, I embellished it with a Viva Pearl Pen and then I placed little silver dots with a silver Metallic Sharpie.

I had a leftover dragonfly ( Dragonfly (set of 2) ) from a previous project that I was able to use on this card. I had stamped it on a piece of vellum with silver detail embossing powder and cut it out.  I placed the dragonfly on the card with a pop dot.

The sentiment used is called Needed to Be. This is a beautiful sentiment that rings so true with me.  I used my silver embossing powder for the sentiment as well.

Mo's Challenge-Anything Goes w/a Mo Image"

I know I've said it before but I LOVE the images at Mo's Digital Pencil.  Earlier this week I was looking for an image to color and printed off this little cutie.  This is an older image, but one that I absolutely adore, so lets just call it Flash Back Friday ha ha.  I am entering this little cutie into the anything Goes w/a Mo Image Challenge.

It may be raining here but I FEEL like the sun is shining when I look her.  This image is called End of Summer .  It reminds me of my youth and spending countless Summer's days outside.

Copics Used:

Skin- BV00, E21, YR000, YR0000, R01
Hair- YR23, YR20, E31, E50
Jeans- B97, B95, B91
Shirt- Y02, Y00, Y000
Shoes-E53, E55, RV17, RV14, RV13
Landscaping- YG93, YG67, E57, E31, E35, G24, G21, G20, G99, E27, G85, G94 (just use a variety of the greens and browns you like and make little dots. I then went over all of it with the G20 to blend and cover any white that was still showing.
Sky- You can't really see in this picture but I created a cloud effect using my blue chalks.

When I was looking at the Mo's Challenge information I see that they are looking for a Design Team member.  This would be a dream for sure.  I am going to enter and see what happens.  Wish me luck!! I'll need it because there are so many talented people and so many fans of these images.

Have a FANTASTIC weekend

Happy Mothers Day from Technique Junkies

Today I am sharing a card I did for the Technique Junkies Blog.  With Mothers Day right around the corner I thought I would give you some inspiration for a very Simple but elegant Mother's Day Card.
Here I've Used two stamps from Technique Junkies, The first is a background stamp called Poppies Large #S597.  This is a beautiful background for any card.  I stamped the bottom 2/3 of my card with this background stamp, leaving a portion at the top,(big enough to accommodate my sentiment).   I stamped my card with Black Distress ink and then embossed it with clear embossing power.
Next you'll want to stamp your sentiment at the top.  Here I chose a Mother's Day stamp from Holidays-2-flourish-sentiments. There are 8 different sentiments in this set.  Of course you could also do "Happy Birthday" or any sentiment you like.  Next I applied a black ribbon with some redline tape and then I tied a little pink bow and glued it down on top of the ribbon for a pop of color.  I thought maybe a bright yellow would also be pretty too.

Well that's all there is to it!  I like cards that are clean and simple and this one fits that category for sure.  I hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day!

Technique Junkies Blog Hop and New Releases for May

Happy May Day Junkies!! Welcome to my blog.   Ahhhhh do you smell it?  Spring is in the air. I think we have finally made it through Winter.  May is here and it hasn't come a day too soon, especially for those of you that live in the Northeast. What a great reason to celebrate.  Well, we're celebrating the month of May at Technique Junkies too!

The new May Release stamps are now available!!  You can get them HERE. AND for the next week all May Release stamps are 15% off.  Make sure and check out the new products and accessories that are now available, such as stencils, Art Anthology colorations and Art Anthology dimensional mediums, just to name a few.

If you are following along on the Hop, you should have just come from Gini Cagle's Blog. She does such beautiful work!
If you didn't come from her blog and would like to join in on the Hop you'll want to start out at the  Design Team Blog and work your way through to the end.  The Design Team has been busy creating.  I think you'll find loads of inspiration and ideas.   I have listed all of the blogs for the hop below, in order.

Here are the cards I created using a couple of the new stamps.
I really love anything country so this first stamp was a favorite as soon as I saw it. Here's how I made it:   I stamped both stamps; Chicken and Be Silly in Memento Cocoa Brown.  I distressed around the edges of the chicken image and around the edge of the patterned paper I matted it on.  I cut the Be Silly image into the shape of a tag.  A Cuttlebug embossing folder (Honeycomb) was used to create the white background.  I added some jute ribbon, twine and a wooden button as embellishments.

Now this stamp was a favorite right away as well because..... yep you guessed it.... I wanted to color it!  ha ha.  Color it I did.  I used my Copics to color this Whimsical Birthday Cake stamp.  I cut it out with a Spellbinder Die and then used a pop dot to attach it to my card.  I used a little bit of twine as an added embellishment.  This was a fast and easy card.  Those birthday's can sneak up on you and this would be a great card to make if you need one in a hurry.

I hope you enjoyed my cards today.  Your next and last stop on the hop will be Pat Huntoon at patstamps.blogspot.com.

Please feel free to comment along the way.  Everyone loves to hear your questions and comments about their work.

Have a spectacular Day!!
